The fast-rising duo is stepping into the spotlight with a massive new banger that redefines the industrial and dark electronic spaces. With Alex Gonzalez and John Kunkel at the helm, UNTER STRØM are building an authentic and atmospheric universe.
Gonzalez, heavily known for his work with Matte Blvck, has been selling out shows across the U.S. on a trajectory that’s pointing strictly upward. Kunkel brings an equally distinct perspective shaped by his work as John Grand, earning support from Armin van Buuren and a guest appearance on Group Therapy Radio while developing his own reputation within the electronic scene. The idea for “Fold” sparked while Gonzalez was on a flight to Calgary for a festival performance. He reached out to his longtime collaborator, Kunkel, and the two immediately started giving the concept shape. This relationship has become the defining element of UNTER STRØM, driven by a fast-moving, back-and-forth creative process.
To push the track completely over the edge, the duo brought in engineer Mike Marsh on mastering and Aaron Short on mixing duties.
