The Ties to Home in Nippa’s “Homegrown”

Nippa is spending more and more time away from London. His career is growing with collaborations in the United States and new audiences finding his music. Against that backdrop, “Homegrown,” his first EP with Warner Records, feels like a tribute to where he comes from and an exploration of how to embrace everything that is changing without losing his connection to Tottenham, the neighborhood where he grew up.

The title track, recorded with Blxst, looks back on times when money was scarce, the doors he had to open for himself, and the people who stayed by his side. He can celebrate what he has achieved, but he makes it clear that he did not get here alone. The track accompanied the unveiling of Tottenham Hotspur’s kits for the 2026/27 season, an important moment for someone who grew up in Tottenham, where the club is based.

On “Kacey,” with Jordan Ward, Nippa sings about someone who remains on his mind as he travels and his life changes. The video plays with that distance, showing him between London and Los Angeles.

“Bittersweet” has a different rhythm. KAYTRANADA and Rance produce this song made for dancing, but Nippa does not seem to have his mind entirely on the party. He wonders whether he is doing too much and whether he is giving himself time to enjoy what is happening to him.

There is also room for songs like the more relaxed “Just Vibe” and “I’m Scared To Be Left Alone,” which show a more vulnerable side. In just over twenty minutes, Homegrown moves from celebration to doubt without losing sight of the people and the place Nippa considers home.
