HAAi Turns Her Nights as a DJ into the Ten Tracks on “DIGITiSE”
“DIGITiSE” puts HAAi’s DJ practice at the center of her latest work. Made while she was on the road, the ten-track album takes shape around the demands of playing to a crowd and the instinct to build music that can live inside a DJ set. Released via Mute, it also extends the world of 2025’s “HUMANiSE” without simply retracing it.
For “DIGITiSE,” HAAi incorporated new material into her sets and watched people’s reactions to adjust the breaks, rhythms, and transitions. The dance floor became a testing ground where she could see what kept people moving and what needed to change before finishing the tracks. Her intention to explore different sounds, as she would during an all-night set, gave the project direction.
The two albums are connected through the choir that closes “HUMANiSE” and reappears at the opening of “DIGITiSE,” creating a direct musical thread between them. That continuity extends beyond the arrangement, carrying forward HAAi’s interest in preserving human connection within a life increasingly shaped by technology. For her, the dance floor offers a tangible way to do that, bringing people into the same space and giving them a shared experience through music.
“DIGITiSE,” the album’s title track, brings HAAi together with producer and songwriter Pat Alvarez. She considers the song the record’s core, built around the sense of belonging and connection that emerges when people come together on the dance floor. On “Ignition”, with Echonomist, she revisits elements of “Go,” a track from “HUMANiSE,” and carries them into the new record.
“I Wanna Feel Like Someone,” featuring James Massiah, draws on the most intense moments of HAAi’s sets, with deep bass, layered frequencies, and a motorik pulse driving the track forward. Its steady, repetitive rhythm gives the song the physical momentum of a peak-time dance floor.
“Talking Walls,” featuring Skybreak and Colombian children’s choir Cantoalegre, brings their contrasting approaches into the same track. Its warmth shifts the song toward a more communal feeling, reflected in HAAi’s own description of it as “one to hug your mates at the festival.”
The release will bring HAAi back into the environments where “DIGITiSE” was shaped, with a stretch of U.S. dates that moves between club spaces, festivals, and an extended open-to-close set. She heads to San Francisco on October 16 for a B2B set with DJ Seinfeld at Dom Dolla’s Cow Palace show, then continues to Miami for iii Points on October 17 before taking the decks at the festival’s official afterparty at The Ground at Club Space in the early hours of October 18. Later that day, Refuge in Brooklyn will host Refuge Sunday: HAAi [Open to Close], a 10-hour set marking the album’s release with the kind of extended dance floor experience that sits at the heart of the record.
Los Angeles gets its own chapter in November, with HAAi joining a Beatport stream on November 25 before returning to the city for Time Warp Los Angeles 2026 on November 27. After spending months testing these tracks in front of crowds, the dates bring “DIGITiSE” back into the spaces and communities that gave the music its physical shape.
