You simply cannot miss this release by 93FEETOFSMOKE

93FEETOFSMOKE is without a doubt one of the most original emerging projects I’ve heard about in a very long time. If music were a set of religions, 93FS would be a youthful and fiery new prophet leading a syncretic revolution, an offshoot of across-the-board emotive subgenres that brewed in gritty urban environments, and his new song, ¨Oh Nah Oh Nah¨, is a perfect -and stunning- example of that.

This single is a brave new beast, never before seen nor heard, or at least I don´t think I've ever heard such a bold confluence of sounds and textures at any time. The thing that first jumped out at me was the Jungle/DnB beat that supports the entire track, then of course there are the hard-to-miss fat and distorted trap bass elements and the highly emotive Skramz vocals that slow down periodically to reassure us that your boy, indeed, has bars. The single touches upon themes of integrity and character, and the consequences that extreme avoidance can have on interpersonal relationships.

The track is incredibly dynamic, catchy and upbeat, but the raw emotion that comes from legendary trap metal artist "Kamiyada+" wraps the whole thing together in a lot of intensity. The ebb and flow of both vocal styles is so seamless that you’d think it’s just one singer going through this veritable rollercoaster of moods. A sign that the two should collaborate more often? Sure! And I bet the hordes of long-time fans streaming his music by the 100+ millions would agree that this combo is pure thermite.

All of this raucous originality and eclectic composition comes at a slight cost, I think. The music can be a bit harsh for the unprepared ear who prefers more mellow or conventional structures, but that’s a non-issue for 93 who has had no problem connecting with millions across the globe sticking to his guns and producing the sounds that truly mean something to him. Even so, I believe the powerful energy of his work is part of a universal language that everyone’s going to understand quite easily, that is very hard to ignore and impossible not to respect. I suppose that this loops back around to the themes of Integrity that he wanted to get across with this new single.

"Oh Nah Oh Nah" is part of our preview of 93FEETOFSMOKE’s forthcoming full-length debut album, coming later this year. So keep your ears glued to this spotify for more.
