The Future is Here

FUTUREPOP didn't choose their name by mere whim, it's almost the entire ethos that makes this band tick from every angle, and though they share a name with a whole sub-genre of pop, they're far from stuck in a single kind of groove, producing covers and original music across a whole gamut of sounds. FUTUREPOP is the new young teen group that is known for giving their own creative and fun spin to today’s hit songs. The group was first formed in 2019, and it consists of Maceo Sicam (16), Sienna Melgoza (16), Tanner Hagen (18), and Sierrah Hudson (14).

Grammy winners 'The Stereotypes' produce and record every cover song FUTUREPOP releases, as well as co-writing and producing original music that FUTUREPOP is known for. Today, we got the chance to interview these four teens with attitude to get a better understanding of how they work together and what their goals are for this project.

In your own words, who or what is FuturePop? why does the name feel so meaningful?

FuturePop is made up of 4 super talented teen triple threats who are great friends and love to come together and learn new pop music and choreography. We live for each recording and performance!

Our name is so meaningful because we feel that we are the Next Generation of Pop Music.

What's it like Working with The Stereotypes?

It is such an honor to work with Multi-Grammy Winning Producers, Jeremy Reeves, and The Stereotypes. It’s unbelievable that we’re working with them in our Teens, when they’ve won Grammys with artists that we idolize like Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber. It is definitely a dream come true!

What's the audience feedback been like so far?

We recently were asked by the amazing people at the Citadel Outlets to play for their two huge Christmas Tree Lighting Events in Los Angeles for thousands of people. It was so special because the crowd went crazy when we came on stage. They were so loud cheering and clapping and it seemed like they really didn’t want our performance to end. The feedback that we received after those two events, motivated us to work even harder for our next performances.

Who or what inspired -or continues to inspire FuturePop? Is there an artist or group in particular that feels like a predecessor?

There are so many groups that we aspire to be like. We are fortunate that we came together so young and have this bond and chemistry working with each other. We look to solo artists like Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, and Justin Timberlake and also groups like Destiny’s Child, NSync, and One Direction. We want to bring something new and innovative to our music the way these artists did in the past.

What makes the four of you an ideal match for this group?

We are friends first and have so much fun rehearsing, recording, and performing together. We all have very different voices and styles but have the same love for music and dance in common.

What does each of you feel you bring to the table for the group?

All of us have been singing, dancing and performing since we were very young. We all bring different strengths to each performance though.

Maceo can rap and tumble and always wows the crowd! He has been working in the industry as a professional dancer on stage and tv since he was 10 years old. He danced with Justin Bieber on his 10th birthday along with the likes of Katy Perry, Pharrell, Janet Jackson, Nick Cannon, and JoJo Siwa. He’s been in tons of commercials, and also tv shows. He was a member of The Kid Clippers for years.

Tanner grew up in his family’s dance studio and was winning National Dance Championships by the age of 6. His stage presence is incredible! He started taking vocal lessons at the age of 12 to book one of the lead role of Billy Elliott and Newsies! He moved to Los Angeles with his family at the age of 13 to begin performing with FuturePop. He started auditioning and booking commercials, TV and Film routinely.

Sienna also grew up in her parents Dance Studio with both parents as professional dancers. She was performing and getting standing ovations before the age of 7. At the age of 10, she started auditioning and booking major commercials. At the age of 11, she was chosen to become a member of a Triple Threat Class where she rehearsed and performed for several hours per week. At the age of 13, she joined FuturePop and continued weekly dance and vocal training with the group. Her vocals are incredible and just keep getting better!

Sierrah is the youngest of the group but can definitely hold her own! Sierrah grew up in a house with her older siblings always singing, dancing, playing guitar, and piano. Her older siblings started their music careers on America’s Got Talent. As soon as Sierrah could talk, she was singing too! Sierrah also has been passionate about all forms of dance and competing in dance competitions including winning national ballroom championships . She has beauty and confidence on and off stage that totally captivates the audience!

We've heard the covers and they're amazing, but what can we expect from FuturePop's upcoming original music?

Our latest original called Mr. Weatherman was just released last month. The response to this song from our fans has been phenomenal and ironically, it has been raining every day in LA since it’s release! Seriously, we’ve been lucky to have already received some radio play time so we are super excited to see where this song is going to take us.

FuturePop is "the future of pop", but what is in the band's near future? what can we expect in 2023?

In 2023, we are hoping to compete on America’s Got Talent. A talent scout from AGT saw us perform recently and approached our managers immediately. We also have several Live Performances scheduled already including Kids Fest in May. We plan to release more originals and covers and continue doing what we love most! We hope to perform at more Charity Events like our recent one for The City of Hope Charity Event and give back to our community. In our spare time, we are all four busy actors represented by Treadwell Entertainment Group and we audition and film routinely!
