Queen Anne Delivers a Fresh Vision of David Bowie's “Let’s Dance" for Indie Pop Lovers

Surreal indie-pop duo Queen Anne returns with a bold reinterpretation of David Bowie’s classic “Let’s Dance.” Infused with the band’s signature dreamlike textures and inventive arrangements, the cover reimagines the iconic track while preserving the magnetic energy and spirit that made the original unforgettable.

Composed by singer-songwriter Katie Silverman and writer and producer Sandy Chila, Queen Anne has a gift for turning everyday frustrations into songs that truly connect. Frontwoman Katie Silverman has already proven her talent as an actress in shows like New Girl, Pen15, and the film The Exorcist. Now, she’s channeling that creativity into music.

Their version of “Let’s Dance” is dark, surreal, and ethereal, almost otherworldly. It opens with a soft acoustic guitar before Katie’s slightly distorted vocals enter, adding to the track’s haunting, dreamlike quality. Despite the eerie tone, the melody soon steps into the spotlight, revealing a catchy and surprisingly danceable rhythm. This contrast between the distorted vocals and upbeat groove creates a fascinating push and pull. Listeners may feel a blend of nostalgia and haunting allure, as the familiar yet transformed melody recalls the original while offering something entirely new. The combination invites both introspection and movement, making the track thought-provoking and unexpectedly uplifting.

On the song, Silverman says, “I picked ‘Let’s Dance’ because there’s something so fervent, so this-is-our-last-chance about it… and because I already owned a pair of red shoes.” Her collaborator Sandy agrees, adding simply, “Let’s dance!”

“Let’s Dance” is an incredible reimagining of a classic. Fans of the original David Bowie hit will find something fresh here, a new way to experience an iconic song. Queen Anne will follow this release with an original track, “Lexi Loves Me,” coming out through Share It Music in mid-September.
