MIRANDA JOAN BREWS A WARM NEW SONG FOR YOU

Miranda Joan is a singer-songwriter from Montreal but currently based out of Brooklyn, where she's carved out a nice place in the heart of the Soul/Jazz scene with her spicy blend of soulful pop music to suit the most demanding musical palates. Miranda's influences span from classic soul and R&B artists like Bill Withers and Stevie Wonder to contemporary artists like Anderson Paak, Little Dragon, and Robyn. Her music draws on both the old and the new, blending classic soulful sounds with modern production techniques that give her a unique sound that is both familiar and fresh.

Too Much (Coffee) is Miranda’s new single. As a coffee enthusiast myself, I have known what too much of it feels like, so much so that I vowed never again to let pleasure pull me by the nose like some oxen, lest I end up becoming a slave to it, and today we have a song for you that's exactly about that.

Miranda confides: "The single was written in a desperate moment when I found myself in the aftermath of indulgence. Sometimes when you love deeply, you can lose yourself in it. The single asks the question: What's the harm in having one more.

Of course, Too Much (Coffee) itself is evidently much more than just a coffee habit gone out of control, but we'll let you connect the dots as you will. Instead, let us point you towards the degustation of Miranda Joan's elegant, airy falsetto and the drippy, coffeehouse downtempo beat she brings to the table. Bask in the warm glow of the bass plucks and get carried away by the aromas of the sparkling piano notes. Each second of this track feels like watching raindrops glimmering in the tenuous light of a cloudy afternoon.

My Personal recommendation? Get yourself to your favorite spot with a nice warm mug, and contemplate the little beauties of the world around you in all their quaint stillness. With the right song – Too Much (Coffee) of course – and the perfect beverage, anything from a lonely staircase to a potted indoor plant can be something to behold. This is what a nice coffee break is really about, and what this song most accurately conveys.

Miranda is the co-host and co-founder of Brooklyn’s Femme Jam (NYC’s first all-female-led jam session); a community initiative to create a womxn-led space with an emphasis on female musicians that fosters inclusivity. Arts mentorship has been an important through-line in Joan’s career, and for the past eight years, she has been a music mentor with the non-profit SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young for the Young where she works with youth 8-18 who stutter.
