Judy Whitmore Brings Christmas Magic Early with “The Ghosts of Christmas Past”
Singer Judy Whitmore welcomes the holiday season early this year with the release of her new single and video “The Ghosts of Christmas Past,” as part of her holiday album, “Christmas.” Written by Michael Orland (American Idol) alongside Jamie Wooten (The Golden Girls), “The Ghosts of Christmas Past” radiates warmth and joy, perfectly capturing the spirit of Christmas.
Musically, it’s a beautifully crafted piece. The gentle piano brings warmth and cohesion, while Judy’s soft, heartfelt vocals draw listeners in. Together, they tell a classic Christmas story, wrapped in sounds that capture the season’s charm. The track highlights Judy’s rich vocals over heartfelt piano melodies and festive arrangements, resulting in a timeless holiday track.
“The Ghosts of Christmas Past” feels like it could belong in a classic Disney film, carrying that unmistakable ‘90s magic. Its lyrics explore nostalgia and reflection, evoking memories of cozy winter nights, shared laughter, and family warmth. It’s a gentle reminder of the enduring magic of the holidays and the people who make them meaningful.
Judy shared how the song came to life: “I was in the studio one day with my dear friend and Music Director, Michael Orland. We were trying out songs for my new Christmas album when he mentioned he had written a song titled ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Past.’ He played it for me, and I knew instantly it had to be on the album. The lyrics are so heartfelt, and the melody so haunting. I shed a few tears the first time I sang it. The song captures what Christmas is all about. I think it will stand the test of time.”
The video beautifully mirrors the song’s emotion and warmth. Set in a cozy living room adorned with twinkling lights and a shimmering Christmas tree, it captures the magic of a winter evening. A crackling fireplace bathes the room in golden light as snow falls softly outside. Judy performs with heartfelt expression, surrounded by a glow that enhances the intimate, cinematic atmosphere, like a moment lifted from a classic Hallmark film.
It captures the true meaning of Christmas by celebrating time with loved ones, sharing joy, and finding happiness in simple moments. This holiday belongs to everyone, no matter where they come from or what they believe. And there’s no better way to celebrate than with this record as your own soundtrack.
