By the time “Red Eye,” the final track on “STATIC,” begins, Jaymin has reached a moment of clarity. After spending much of the EP navigating distance, doubt, and difficult conversations, he finally knows who he wants and is ready to close the gap between them.
“STATIC” features eleven tracks and is the second project the Seattle singer has released through Warner Records in 2026. Its predecessor, “Sweet Nothings,” focused on the excitement of falling in love. This time, the relationship is already underway, leaving him to consider how love can be sustained when security begins to fade, and difficult conversations can no longer be postponed.
Across the project, Jaymin moves through different stages of conflict and tries to make sense of his feelings in real time. Moments of apparent clarity give way to new questions, allowing accountability, hesitation, and desire to occupy the same emotional space. At times, he seems close to an answer, only to wonder again whether he understood the relationship correctly.
That progression also comes through in the tracklist. “If I’m Away” brings distance into the picture from the start. Later, “What’s It Worth” finds Jaymin reconsidering what the relationship means, while “This Side of Paris” leads directly into “Red Eye” and the decision that closes the EP.
The sound retains the intimacy that has defined his recent releases. Prominent basslines, processed vocals, and rap-influenced cadences shape the production. At other moments, details reminiscent of 1980s and 1990s R&B begin to emerge.
Jaymin grew up in South Seattle and began developing his voice at church and at home, where he sang with his siblings. Gospel coexisted with the soul and secular R&B his family listened to. Over time, he incorporated more contemporary sounds while maintaining his focus on melody and an intimate vocal approach.
The title “STATIC” describes the entire journey. Two people are trying to communicate, but the signal arrives incomplete. Sometimes, too many things get in the way. “STATIC” does not simply tell a story about uncertainty within a relationship. It also shows what it means to remain in that relationship long enough to stop hiding behind doubt.
