Get Ready to Fall in Love with the Catchy Beat of HighSchool Jacob's 'Fall In'

LA-based polymath HighSchool Jacob is enchanting everyone with his unique and refreshing style. In a very short amount of time, he has managed to build a strong following, using non-traditional methods to promote his music and tie his personal life directly to his art.

“I always knew music was what I wanted to do, even though I wasn’t explicitly encouraged to pursue it.”

Jacob began his musical journey at a very early stage in his life, learning piano at the age of four and mastering guitar when he was ten. He spent most of his high school years studying classical theory and perfecting his piano skills; however, he found himself walking this road alone. After finishing both high school and college, Jacob worked on scoring films. Thanks to this, he was able to learn how to handle the tools presented to him in production work. The result of all these experiences is what helped him find his sound.

One of the most notable highlights of his career was the four-song collection "HSJ 2020," which was accompanied by playable video games soundtracked by 8-bit versions of the songs. In addition, two tracks from this collection, "Mind Games" and "Die 4 U," earned a spot on Spotify's Fresh Finds playlist.

“My best friend Jack Herzog asked me about the aesthetic for the releases, and he said, ‘Why don’t we stop pretending that video games aren't a huge part of your personality?’” he recalls. “It was something I did as an artist where I felt like it was a piece of work that represented me.”

He is ready to keep riding the wave of his success with the release of his enchanting new single, "Fall In." Using everything he has learned so far, Jacob has created an incredibly catchy tune. From beginning to end, the song boasts a danceable beat that is reminiscent of Jacob's previous works, showcasing impeccable production quality. "Fall In" was a collaborative effort between Jacob and several other songwriters, producers, and musicians. Engineered and mixed by Matt Cerritos and Moritz Braun at Just For The Record, resulting in a tune that is truly something special.

"‘Fall In’ is about letting yourself get wrapped up in the moment. I wanted to write a song about the excitement and anticipation that comes with trying something new with someone new. Every section of the song feels distinct while leading into the next to show off a herky jerky spirit that can accompany a night out. I also leaned into some of my old electronic music roots but played with harsh cuts between samples and synths to give it a DIY yet polished feel.”

So, what's next for Jacob? Well, he's already working on a new EP, which is set to be released later this year, along with more shows with his newly formed four-piece band. The future looks bright for HighSchool Jacob.
