Eva Zukula Embraces Raw Humanity in Her Powerful New Album “Be Ye Lil Gods”

Stripped of everything she had learned and deeply connected to her humanity, that’s how “Be Ye Lil Gods” was born, the new album from emerging singer Eva Zukula. It’s an 11-track collection designed not only to make you dance and enjoy, but also to take you on a journey of growth and evolution, one that mirrors the artist’s own path.

“After unlearning everything I thought I knew about music, I started studying what really made music timeless, and what made the artists I admired truly iconic. What I found wasn’t technical perfection or trends. It was something raw. Honest. Emotional. Every one of my favorite artists had a way of tapping into something real, and I realized that’s what I wanted to create too,” she shared.

Those realizations became the foundation of her new album, an album she herself describes as the most intimate and personal of her career, one she hopes will solidify her place in the music industry after years of hard work.

“High” opens the journey with driving percussion and electronic sounds that flow throughout the record. The track also immediately showcases Eva’s vocal ability, as she takes risks with soaring high notes and delivers a performance worthy of someone who has been making music for years.

Softer and more introspective, “Lucy” comes in with the intention of slowing things down after an intense hit, fully capturing the listener’s attention.

On “Scorpio,” Eva’s voice takes center stage once again, revealing her most essential and nostalgic side. Meanwhile, tracks like “Righta” showcase her versatility, blending flashes of R&B with sharper, more dynamic tones.

Other standout moments in the collection include “If You're Human,” where the guitar takes the spotlight, “Comfort You,” with its acid jazz funk vibe, and “Play It On Loud,” which kicks off with a metallic, piercing intro reminiscent of 80s and 90s video games.

Eva Zakula’s musical journey began at 16 with a small garage band, an experience that ignited a creative spark that has never faded. Her path eventually led her to study at the USC School of Dramatic Arts, a chapter that broadened her perspective and helped her refine a style that now moves effortlessly between rock, soul, and sonic experimentation.

Along the way, she has shaped her identity through constant exploration. In her youth, she was part of the Bay Area scene, later finding inspiration in long walks from Los Angeles to Santa Monica Beach. Between the city’s noise and the sea’s calm, her artistic sensibility began to take form. Today, she balances her solo career with her role in the all-female band The LA Flakes.

Her music, as she herself affirms, doesn’t chase technical perfection or cling to trends; it’s raw, vulnerable, and human. With “Be Ye Lil Gods,” she captures that vision. The album unfolds as both a spiritual and artistic journey, one that invites listeners to reconnect with the essentials, to find strength in vulnerability, and to embrace the possibility of being gods and goddesses of our own lives, as the artist makes clear in every song.
