An Interview with Doom Patrol's Skye Roberts

Doom Patrol returned to HBO Max this September 23rd, and so did Skye Roberts. As the daughter of parents who are in the entertainment industry, Skye was pretty much destined to be on set in some capacity, and right now, it is her passion for acting that drove us to interview this young talent about her current career moves and her expectations for the future.

The Young anime fan can be seen in the role of “Kay Challis”, the original child persona of DC comics’ character “Crazy Jane” (Diane Guerrero), a mentally fractured super-being and member of the titular Doom Patrol, a rag-tag group of misfit super-heroes.

I read that you're excited to let fans see you dance on this 3rd season. Tell us a little bit about that!

I rehearsed with two really fun dance choreographers and all the other actors before realizing I was actually going to dance by myself for the filming! I'm excited about fans seeing it because I'm helping Crazy Jane have fun in her life and she needs it!

What has been your favorite episode to shoot so far and why?

The episode with the ice-cream in the candy shop (that was really mashed potato! - sorry for spoiling it for props dept.)

What do you like best about your character in Doom patrol?

I like being Crazy Jane's inner child and to help Jane understand herself better.

What do you enjoy the most about acting?

Expressing different parts of myself and turning these different parts into a full character. On set I love crafty! :)

Where do you see yourself in the future? what sort of roles and movies would you like to play?

I would love to do a comedy feature film with Anne Hathaway, Kevin Hart and Jack Black. I want to be known as an actress who can play both drama and comedic roles.

Is there an actor or actress you look up to that you'd love to share screen with?

Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman

Have you thought about other aspects of movie and Tv production that doesn't involve acting? such as writing, editing, directing etc.?

I love makeup and hair and costume!

Can you tell us a little bit about your upcoming projects? I heard that you're doing a movie and also a comedy short alongside your mom.

I can't say the name of the movie I just shot but I played a mean girl which was so fun. I was really mean. I also had to 'kiss' a boy but I thought that was gross. He was 14! I just filmed the comedy short with my Mom and the actress, Cici Lau, who played my Grandma was hilarious. I got to be naughty and cheeky which I don't get to do in real life without my Mom telling me off!

I read that you've been taking Karate lessons. How far along are you?

I've been practicing Kenpo Karate for two years and I have the best Sensei ever - he can cut through bricks with his bare hands...I can't do that yet though.

At the end of our interviews, we sometimes like to do a quick Ping-pong questionnaire round, short answers only! ready?
