Ally Barron releases stunning new track

We had the fortune to talk to her before, and now we're going to do a little talking *about* her instead. Ally Barron's newest song just dropped and we couldn't be more pleased with this bright new step in her career

The last time we saw Ally, she had just released her debut EP "Sincerely, AB", and in our interview, she confessed to us that she was still finding her sound "Although I definitely am in the pop wheelhouse, I wanted this project to explore many different types of pop styles." she said, and we can't help but wonder how this new track fits into that ongoing exploration.

Once Again, Ally finds herself in that "Pop Wheelhouse" she talked about, and I can't help but feel a little awed at what frankly sounds a lot like staggering growth in a short span of time.

"Read It and Weep" is a song that talks about picking up the pieces of a broken relationship and finding the strength to go on and enjoy yourself despite the pain. It's about taking the good with the bad and celebrating one's independence, knowing that those growing pains can ultimately be beneficial if you know how to transform them.

Although Ally didn't write the song this time, she did choose to record it because she can personally relate to its message, saying "I hope people take away from this song that it’s okay to be lonely and uncomfortable because sometimes the best parts of life come from that."

Although the song does come off differently than her previous work, in my opinion, it's not a complete blindside, you can easily find its DNA in previous tracks like "You Thought" and "What's her name", only now, the way that Ally plays with the uplifting hooks throughout the song feel more confident somehow. This is even more noticeable when taking into account the fact that the lyrics are not hers, so to inhabit someone else's words so effectively she needs that extra bit of comfort with her own voice.

Ally's gorgeous voice comes through very strongly in this track, stronger than ever even, especially during the hook as I mentioned before, and it makes me more eager than ever to hear what else she's capable of. What sort of notes can she hit? I can just tell she's got so much power behind her vocals at all times and she's rapidly growing into a truly noteworthy singer that can put so much emotion into words so easily.

Music-wise, I also have nothing but praise for this track. The very sleek production is packed and layered with amazing synths that come together when they swell around Barron's voice. The song stands in very nice contrast to the somewhat more minimalistic and R&B-flavored production of the aforementioned EP. It almost dips into that whole Female-vocal-EDM pool, but it's so much more interesting than that because of the warm (and almost retro pop) beat it uses.

All in all, it's still difficult to say where the endless possibilities will take the "Ally Barron sound" we talked about before, but I may be so bold as to have my say: This is an excellent step in the right direction for her, and I can't wait for what's to come.
