Marie-Ann Hedonia Rebuilds Sound and Identity on “Solar Eclipse”

Without a doubt, Marie-Ann Hedonia is intense, and not only does she know it, but she also embraces it, makes it her own, and uses it as fuel to create immersive, disruptive, and distinctive music. Her message is clear: empowerment through every lyric, texture, and layer that makes up her work.

With a drive as unique as her style, she now presents her new EP. “Solar Eclipse,” a collection packed with collaborations, meant to be listened to, danced to, reflected on, reconsidered, and listened to again, in that very order.

One of the standout tracks is Eve Had The Metallic Shine Of Summer (featuring Black Kite), opening with an introduction reminiscent of legendary groups like Gorillaz, only to suddenly shift into a darker, more dramatic turn capable of giving you chills. The track is inspired by Björk and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, and beneath its intensity lies a heavy dose of irony, staying true to its influences.

With a more nostalgic 80s vibe and metallic synths pushed to the max, Fuck Your Feelings (Salt in the Wound), featuring Casey Desmond, rises as one of the most anticipated collaborations of the EP. It’s the “lightest” and most danceable track in the project, standing out for its vibrant essence and near-immersive quality, while tackling a common, relatable theme: the end of a friendship.

Once again using sarcasm to reshape her message, CVNT$mAShER featuring Delia Liederschuh emerges as one of Solar Eclipse’s boldest cuts. It’s the most provocative and sensual track on the EP, perfectly blending Hedonia’s undeniable talent with Liederschuh’s overwhelming presence.

Passages, Pt. 2, featuring The Galaxy Electric, leaves nothing behind, weaving together all the typical elements of Hedonia’s work. Yet it does so with such mastery that it never feels forced or overloaded. On the contrary, it serves as a perfect summary of her ability to mold sonic resources entirely at her will.

Marie-Ann Hedonia has built a singular path in experimental and electronic music. Based in Baltimore, she has made synthesizers her main instrument and medium of exploration. Her career began with a digital piano in childhood, but she soon discovered her true passion lay in manipulating and reinventing sounds.

That pursuit first led her to a secondhand microKORG and then into the world of modular synthesis, a terrain she defines as the chance to “rebuild the skeleton of sound” and make it entirely her own. Since then, she has forged an identity shaped by experimentation, risk, and a clear drive to break structures.

In recent years, Hedonia has consolidated a catalog of four studio albums and several collaborations that position her as one of the most intriguing figures in independent electronic music.

Her albums, The Inevitable Collapse, Kenopsia, Marie Ann Hedonia Presents Marie Ann Hedonia, and Temporal Dysmorphia, reflect this constant evolution, while her contribution to Jeremy Pelt’s Woven opened the door to jazz.

Additionally, her role as co-founder of the label Paul and Marie’s Country Kitchen, alongside her husband Paul M’Olive, has allowed her to expand her influence within the scene, promoting sounds that shift between industrial, atmospheric, and emotional.

Now she returns with Solar Eclipse, a project to explore new sonic territories. Despite its innovation, the music flows naturally and captivates instantly, even for listeners who aren’t used to synthetic textures or daring sound combinations.
