Remember those NOW compilation CDs from the late 90s/early 00? I can't help but think about them when looking at it. The WordArt font is just the icing on the cake. I like this kind of cheesy stuff. Now, let's dive into the songs:
"God Speaks" is our introduction with the waves of the ocean ready to ease us into what's to come. I can use one word to describe the next song, "Till Kingdom Comes" and that is a complete extravaganza. Well, those are two words but you know what I mean. Our first taste of Shaney style is one that will leave your jaw right on the ground. I wasn't familiar with Island Music but I'm glad "Fist Full O Dollars" was my introduction to the subject. Shaney's ability to masterfully blend all those sounds is just incredible. There's not much to say about "Denzel Speaks" other than it takes us to our next track, "Super Hero." This track is one of Shaney's most well-known songs, the theme is to be your own hero and overcome challenges. Alongside the song, we also get a video! Representing the island vibes we are presented with Shaney singing alongside a beautiful woman near the coast. The positive energy coming from this is impossible to resist and it's a great way to enjoy the song if you prefer a visual medium.
It is not going to be an easy task to top the previous song but "Runaway Faith" keeps the momentum going. Slowing down, a relaxing sound embraces us. "Ashley Speaks" is another interlude to remind us we’re not invisible, we’re not alone, and our feelings matter before moving to "After The Storm" which makes a great impression. Guitars plus R&B is something I'm not used to hearing and I'm glad Shaney is taking me on this journey of new sounds and emotions. "OG" is an upbeat song that brings us back to the vibe. Shaney's voice is captivating and the song has a very powerful message. "Nina Speaks" is the final interlude before getting to "Neptune Cafe" which brings electro-pop to the mix. As usual, Shaney's voice is the perfect companion to the track and it's a strong track overall. We finish our adventure with "Tears of Joy". A very appropriate title. Shaney's final words are heartwarming and the song has a beautiful melody that sticks with you. The album wraps up nicely with this track. It's the perfect way to end our venture.
