From tragedy to resurrection: RedrumSociety is bringing the resurgence of Indie Rock

RedrumSociety's journey began in the underground music scene, where a group of talented musicians came together to create something extraordinary. The band was founded in 2008 out of South Florida by four friends, Dylan Lerner, Esdras Raymond, Esperanzo (Espo) Wilcox, and Zach Cohen. The four high school friends came from different backgrounds but bonded through their connection together in making music. Their name, a reference to Stephen King's "The Shining," reflects their rebellious nature and their willingness to challenge conventions. From the very beginning, they set out to carve their niche in the indie rock landscape. Sadly, grief struck the band at an early stage when Dylan Lerner was reported missing and later found dead. The band decided to not look for a replacement, instead, Zach filled out his role. In 2013 Espo and Esdras were not able to move to L.A. with Zach who went there to help the band flourish. Eventually, he also took lead singer duties. However, because of Zach's drug abuse, he was forced into hiding and the band was pretty much finished. Thanks to Zach's old mentor and friend, he was convinced to relaunch RedrumSociety. He then decided to pursue his dreams again and answer his calling to honor Dylan, Esdras, and Espo while keeping the original spirit and attitude of RedrumSociety alive. Currently, Zach plays guitar and sings, Andrew Platt plays keyboards and sings, Sean Chesal plays drums and sings, and Ruddy Simon plays bass. They played in the South Florida music circuit and reached no. 22 on the Billboard rock chart in 2021.

The song's powerful lyrics delve into powerful themes. This is Zach's story of how he came up with the track: "I wrote Run From The Law when I was 18 years old. At the time, one of our former frontmen and co-founder of the band had just been arrested for selling drugs, fleeing the police, and violating parole. He would later serve 9 years for the offense. I was so broken because he and the rest of the band meant everything to me. I was so sad for him and his daughter. I thought he had been doing well but I was wrong. I wrote the chorus and sang it for him while he awaited house arrest. After that, I was too sad to finish the song. Over ten years later, the consequences of my own life began to catch up to me. I was being stalked and harassed, all while my father’s health was deteriorating before my family's eyes. Knowing full well I completely deserved the consequences, I still tried to avoid them with all of my will and my might, rather than face them. I decided to finish the song's verses and alter one line in the chorus from all of those years ago. I wanted to make the song fit a more general theme of not just literally running from the law, which is what it originally was, but also any karma or consequences one creates, knowingly or unknowingly."
